Lumache Giganti, which means giant snails, is a large-sized and snail-shell-shaped pasta. In Italy, this pasta is commonly called “conchiglie” which literally means seashells. The story behind the name tells that a young pasta maker fell in love with a fisherman’s daughter and invented a sea-inspired pasta shape to impress her and win her heart.
Thanks to its special shape, Lumache Giganti pasta is perfect to be stuffed with a creamy filling made with velvety ricotta cheese and tender spinach and then oven baked. Sprinkle with a handful of grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and a pinch of black pepper on top right before serving: a true pleasure for your palate!
